Hard Hitting Safety Campaign – Birmingham Road Safety Partnership

Birmingham City is surrounded by motorway links and one of the scariest road networks to drive on in Britain, with Spaghetti junction, so it is no wonder that the Road safety Partnership of Birmingham have come up with some really hard hitting advertising campaigns to get the message across to drivers how dangerous and silly some motorists are!

One of the campaigns, by the Road Safety, is aimed at pedestrians crossing the road safely.  You might think that it is an easy thing to do, with so many crossings available, such as Zebra crossings, but the point they are making, is about people crossing the road whilst texting on their mobile phones.  This distracts their concentration, and visibility, and many people have walked out in front of cars, because they have not seen them in time!  The caption for the pictures used states, “Now You See ‘em, Now You Don’t”  When you don’t see the cars anymore is when the mobile phone is in use!!

What Is An MOT Test And What’s Involved?

An MOT Test, or Ministry Of Transport Test, is an annual test that is performed on your car at any garage that has been authorised by the Vehicle Inspectorate to perform this service.  You will know which garages they are, by the MOT Test sign, which is a blue sign with three triangles on.

The Test is to make sure that any vehicle over 3 years old, is still being maintained properly and that it complies with the legal requirements for being safe and environmentally friendly on the road.
