Hints and Tips on preparing your vehicle for the winter period 27th September 2011
Its a very good idea to have your vehicle fully serviced before winter starts!!
Make sure that your lights are clean and working, and make sure your battery is fully charged. A faulty battery will let you down, probably at the most inconvenient time!
Make sure you have enough fuel the last thng you need is to be stuck at the side of the road because you have run out of petrol
Carry rescue equipment throughout the winter a great tip an Instructor Trainer once told me is to keep the following in your boot for emergencies:
Tow rope
Spare bulbs
Small spade
Spare wheel
Battery jump lead
Mobile phone (make sure its fully charged) or you have an in car charger
Ice Scraper and de-icer
Torch
Warm clothes and blanket
Food and a warm drink in a flask
First aid kit
BEFORE setting off on a journey during wintry conditions:
Make sure you know and understand the hazards and risks of all types of weather conditions, especially ice, snow and fog.
Clear your windows and mirrors completely of snow and ice before you set off. (Make sure the heater is blowing warm air before setting off – it will keep your windscreen clear).
